UV-C light, also known as Far UV-C light is a range of UV light between 200-300 nm (nanometers) and is also known as UVGI (Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation). UV-C light is most well known for use in disinfecting and deactivating bacteria, viruses and pathogens and has been used for many years by Healthcare institutions.

Through innovation and advancement of technology, UV-C LED lights have these days become a viable method for disinfecting areas outside of the standard healthcare environment, one of which is handrails on escalators. Handrails are already known to be one of the top 5 most bacteria infected areas in shopping malls, airports and hospitals.
